By 1300, the town of Northleach had become well established, and was a centre for the wool trade. By exporting wool to Europe, the merchants were able to put some of their money into the rebuilding of the church, which is sometimes referred to as 'the Cathedral of the Cotswolds'. It has many fascinating features including the magnificent memorial brasses, the font, and the famous Northleach bells

As you walk in and around Northleach, you can see reminders of the great days of the wool trade. Sheep still graze in the surrounding fields
The merchants' generosity led to the construction of the church tower in around 1350. It is 100 feet high with diagonal buttresses
